Yinchuan Guide: How To Spend The Day In Yinchuan China

In the sun-baked land of Ningxia, Yinchuan has managed to flourish. The Tangut settlers without question chose this pocket as their capital for good reason; farming the city between the Yellow River and a natural barrier from the Gobi Desert.

Today Yinchuan is mainly Han, but its many mosques uncover its rank as the capital of the Hui peoples’ homeland.

The seductive sights of the Western Xia Tombs and Helan Shan to the west of the city go back to both the Han and the Hui.

The city is also a convenient gateway for longer trips to western Inner Mongolia.
