Stand Tall on Canton Tower

Our first stop in this thriving metropolis is the very modern Canton Tower.

Located on the south bank of the Pearl River, this landmark of Guangzhou has an incredible height of 1,968 feet (600 meters) making it the tallest TV tower in China and the third tallest in the world.

From the top, you have an incredible view of the city and the river, making this a real highlight.

To really see the city, try out the Bubble Tram. This horizontal Ferris wheel encircles the top of the Canton Tower, and allows for unrestricted views of the city.

If you’re looking for a bit of adventure while you enjoy the sights, check out the Sky Drop, an incredible vertical free-fall located near the top of the tower, high above Guangzhou!

Get your heart pumping while you take in the view; it may literally take your breath away! If all this doesn’t convince you, take a look at this article about Canton Tower I wrote last week.

Dive into Culture at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall

This grand edifice of typical Chinese architectural style was constructed between 1929 and 1931 as a monument to Dr. Sun Yat-sen, who was a forerunner in the Chinese democratic revolution.

This reconstructed masterpiece of history has delicate interior designs and is still an important place for conferences and performances.

This memorial park was built in 1954 to commemorate the 5700 people who were killed by the Nationalists during the Guangzhou Insurrection, led by the communist party in December of 1927.

This park is divided into two different sections, the memorial and the garden.

In the memorial section of the park, you will see the Guangzhou Communists’ Uprising Monument, along with many other memorials and monumental attractions.

The garden boasts beautiful greenery, and amidst its beautiful flowers and lakes stand pavilions marked symbolically for different historical events.

With a reputation as a marvelous spectacle of nature, this beautiful mountain park is an ideal place to relax and enjoy nature as it should be.

There are many different sights to see in this jewel of nature, including the Sculpture Park, and the Yuntai Garden, which is filled with blooms and trees and makes the nickname “City of Flowers” very appropriate for Guangzhou.

Here you will also find one of the biggest natural bird cages in China, Bird Spring Valley Park.
