Day 1 Beijing

Meals: Chinese Lunch.

This morning after breakfast, you will meet with the local guide and driver at your hotel lobby. Then drive out of the city and head for the famous Eastern Qing Dynasty Tombs (around 140km, 2.5-3hours on the way) which is considered to be the largest and most comprehensive imperial architecture group in China. There are 15 masoleums in total which provide the tomb for 5 emperors, 15 queens, 136 concubines, 3 princes and 2 princesses. Each masoleum consists of palace walls, Long’en Palace, side halls, the tower with sqaure foundation, Treasure Summit etc. The project of The Eastern Qing Tombs lasted for 247 years which almost matched up the whole history of Qing Dynasty. It’s not only a good way to research the regulation of mausoleums of Qing Dynasty, funeral system, the etiquette of sacrifice, ancient architecture art and technics, but also the typical practice to study the polotics, economy, militery, culture, sceience and art of Qing Dynasty. You will spend half day there to explore the site. Lunch will be served with local Chinese meal during the trip. After the trip, drive back to your hotel in Beijing.
