Day 1 Beijing-Arrival

Welcome to China! The 12-day tour will take you to visit the most popular destinations, wonders and top natural landscapes in China. You will enjoy the exquisitely carved Buddhist Grottoes in the ancient capital city, Luoyang, not to mention, the delicious and authentic Chinese gourmet meals amongst other wonderful things.

Upon arrival, the local tour guide and driver will hold a pick-up sign with your name and meet with you at the Arrival Hall of Beijing International Airport. Then be transferred to your hotel in the downtown core.The rest of the day, you are free to explore on your own. You will stay in Beijing for 3 nights.

Day 2 Beijing

Activity: Boating on the lake in the Summer Palace.

Meals: Buffet Breakfast, Chinese Lunch, Peking Roasted Duck Dinner.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, you will walk on Tian'anmen Square, the biggest city square in the world. Covering 440,000 square meters, it has been the grounds of many important historical events. Then discover the Forbidden City, one of the five most famous palaces in the world, where the 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties lived and ruled for over 500 years. After that, you will visit Jingshan Park, the former imperial garden of the Ming and Qing dynasties where you can see the entire Forbidden City.

Lunch will be on served as a tasty local Chinese meal.

This afternoon, continue on to visit the largest imperial garden, the Summer Palace, which was built during the late Qing Dynasty as the summer resort for the Empress Dowager Cixi. You can enjoy the fascinating landscape of the park. You will take a leisurely boat ride on the beautiful Kunming Lake. During the trip, you will also visit a local silk Store.

Day 3 Beijing-Great Wall Hiking (Gubeikou)

This morning, transfer to visit the world-famous Great Wall (Gubeikou Section) which is listed among the 8 wonders in the world as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As the most preserved Great Wall system, it consists of the North Qi Great Great Wall and Ming Dynasty Great Wall. It is also the key pass between Shanhaiguan and Juyongguan. In 1378 (the 11th year of Emperor Hongwu’s reign in the Ming Dynasty), General Xu Da ordered this section of the Great Wall rebuilt. Gubeikou has probably seen more battles than any other part of the Great Wall, including some of the most famous in Chinese history. On the southern slope of Gubeikou, stands a temple dedicated to Yang Ye, a famous Great Wall garrison general of the Song Dynasty. It is one of the oldest temples dedicated to this general in China. In WWII, there was fierce fighting between Chinese and Japanese armies for weeks, and a cemetery for some 300 Chinese soldiers is preserved close to the Wall. The entire hiking trek takes around 3.5-4 hours. Lunch will be served with snacks, bread, milk, drinks, fruits etc. After the trip, drive back to the downtown core and relax.

Day 4 Beijing-Luoyang (Bullet train, around 4 hours)

Activities: Rickshaw tour in Hutong.

Meals: Buffet Breakfast, Chinese Lunch

After breakfast, drive to visit the famous Temple of Heaven, an important landmark of Beijing, which was used by the emperors in the Ming and Qing dynasties to pray for good harvests. Then, take a leisurely rickshaw tour in Beijing Hutong. You will have the chance to see the original residences of the local people and experience traditional life. During the trip, you will visit the local Chinese tea Store and enjoy the tea ceremony. Lunch will be a local Chinese meal.

Afterward, drive to the railway station and take the bullet train to the ancient capital city, Luoyang. It takes around 4 hours. Once there, be picked up and transferred to the hotel.

Day 5 Luoyang-Xian (By bullet train, around 1.5 hours).

Today, start your day-trip exploring the highlights of Luoyang. First, visit the famous White Horse Temple, which was considered to first Buddhist temple in China. The temple was originally built in the East Han Dynasty. Most of the relics and buildings existed were built during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. Then, drive to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Longmen Grottoes. It is one of the TOP 4 largest grottoes in China and is equally famous with Mogao Grottoes, Yungang Grottoes, and Maijishan Grottoes. There are 2,345 caves and niches, 2800 inscriptions, 43 pagodas, and over 100,000 Buddhist statues at the site. 30% of the caves date from the Northern Wei Dynasty, 60% from the Tang Dynasty, and caves from other periods less than 10%. It is the most impressive collection of Chinese art from these dynasties. Lunch will be served with local Chinese meal during the tour.

After the tour, transfer to Luoyang Longmen Station for the afternoon bullet train to the ancient city of Xi’an. Once there, be picked up and transferred to the hotel.

Day 6 Xian

Meals: Buffet Breakfast, Xian Cuisine at True Love Restaurant (DA QIN XIAO YAN)

After breakfast, you will start your full-day tour of the ancient city. First visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Terracotta Warriors. The Terracotta Army was created to guard Emperor Qin Shihuang's tomb and to protect him in the afterlife. It is estimated that there are over 7,000 life-size Terracotta figures and horses buried here. Then visit the ceramic factory, where you can see how the terracotta warriors were made.

Lunch will be authentic Xi’an cuisine at the famous True Love Restaurant (DA QIN XIAO YAN). This afternoon, visit the landmark of the city, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Built in the Tang Dynasty, the square pyramid stands at 60 meters high and seven-storeys tall. It was originally built in 652 A.D. to preserve the Buddhist sutra which was brought by the famous monk, Xuanzang from India. The pagoda was just inscribed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO on June 22, 2014.  Then, visit the Grand Mosque was initially constructed in 742 A.D. It is a phenomenal architectural complex, which shows the unique combination between Islamic belief and Chinese culture.

Day 7 Xian-Guilin (by air)

Meals: Buffet Breakfast, Chinese Lunch

This morning, drive to visit the Shaanxi History Museum which is one of the first modern museums in China. You can even see the exquisite bronze artifacts of ancient China, and the precious frescos of the Tang Dynasty. Then, visit the Ancient City Wall, built in the Ming Dynasty with over 600 years of history. It is one of the largest and best-preserved ancient city walls in China. (If you are interested in biking on the ancient city wall, it is your own expense.).  Lunch will be a delicious local Chinese meal.

This afternoon, continue on to visit Former Residence of the Family Gao. It is famous for its well-preserved historical residence and courtyard. You will also enjoy a traditional puppet show here.

After the tour, transfer to the airport for the departing flight to the wonderful city of Guilin. Once there, you will be picked up and transferred to the hotel.

Day 8 Guilin-Yangshuo

Activity: Bamboo rafting trip on the Li River.

Meals: Buffet Breakfast, Chinese Lunch

After enjoying breakfast, transfer to Xingping Ancient Town where you will take the leisurely and interesting bamboo rafting trip down the Li River with the section of Xingping-Jiumahua-Xingping. It takes around 50 minutes on the raft, and enjoy the exquisite natural scenery along the Li River. Then visit the ancient town of Xingping, a stunning pearl on Li River, which is featured the well-preserved residences,  old banyan trees, and cobblestone streets. It is considered to be the most beautiful ancient town on the Li River. Afterward, drive to the ancient Jiuxian Village, located at the banks of the beautiful Yulong River. It was believed to established during the Tang Dynasty with around 1400-year history. Next, drive to check-in at the local mountain retreat and enjoy the beautiful views there.

Day 9 Yangshuo-Guilin-Hangzhou (by air)

Activity: Biking in the countryside of Yangshuo.

This morning, continue on to discover the beauty of Yangshuo by taking the leisurely bike ride in the countryside. You will have also visit the famous attraction, Moon Hill.

After that, transfer back to Guilin and visit the city’s highlights. First stop is a landmark of Guilin, Elephant Trunk Hill.  Elephant Truck Hill rises measures 108m in length and 100m in width. Then, visit the incredible karst landforms in Reed Flute Cave. You will be amazed by the profound beauty of nature there. Lunch will be a delicious local Chinese meal.

After the tour, drive to the airport for the departing flight to the wonderful city of Hangzhou. Upon arrival, you will be picked up and transferred to the hotel.

Day 10 Hangzhou-Shanghai (by bullet train, around 1 hour)

After breakfast, you will discover the beautiful “City of Heaven”, Hangzhou. First, stroll around the famous Su Causeway. This afternoon, you will be driven to visit the renowned Lingyin Temple which was originally built in 326 A.D. in the East Jin Dynasty, and the close-by Feilai Peak where you can see the ancient sculptures and grottoes. Next on the tour, is the famous Meijiawu Tea Plantation, where the best Longjin Green Tea is planted. You will enjoy the Longjin Tea and relax there. Lunch will be a local Chinese meal.

After the tour, drive to the railway station for the bullet train back to Shanghai. Upon arrival, be picked up and transfer to the hotel.

Day 11 Shanghai

Activity: Night cruise on the Huangpu River.

After enjoying the breakfast, start your full-day tour to explore the metropolis. First, stroll around the Bund which is a famous waterfront with 52 various buildings of different architectural styles. You can enjoy a beautiful skyline of the city. Drive to visit the famous Yu Garden which is the most famous private garden in Shanghai built in 1559 A.D. Then stroll around the bustling Shanghai Old Town, featuring Qing Dynasty style architecture.

Lunch will be authentic Shanghai cuisine at the famous and exquisitely designed Xianqiangfang Restaurant.

This afternoon, visit the famous Shanghai Museum, one of the TOP 3 museums in China, which features the large collection of bronze artifacts. Then stroll around the wonderful Nanjing Road, considered to be the most popular pedestrian street in Shanghai. Next, is the Jade Buddha Temple, one of the most popular Buddhist temples in Shanghai. You can see the graceful and exquisite reclining Jade Buddha. Afterward, visit Xintiandi, the newest tourist destination in Shanghai, which are local stone-arched houses that have been renovated into trendy boutiques, bars, and restaurants.

Tonight, you will take a leisurely night cruise on the Huangpu River and enjoy the stunning night-views of the metropolis.

Yuyuan Garden

Day 12 Shanghai-Departure

Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch

This morning, drive to visit the newest landmark of Shanghai, the Shanghai World Financial Center. You will take a high-speed elevator up the 474m (the 100 Floor), to the observation hall for panoramic views of the city. Then you will also visit the Shanghai History Exhibition Center on the ground floor, and learn about the history and development of old Shanghai. After that, drive around Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone, considered to be the “Wall Street of China”, as many international banks and financial organizations are gathered here. Lunch will be a delicious local Chinese meal.

This afternoon, drive to take the maglev train ride (single way, around 7-minutes) to Shanghai Pudong International Airport for your departing flight (We suggest you book a departing flight after 4:00 pm). Thus, the end of your extraordinary tour through China.
