The complex combines the skills of the Han, Mongolian and Man nationalities. The main structures are divided into 2 sections, The White Palace and the Red Palace. The palace is 13-storeys outside. The palace was originally built by Sontzen Gampo, the king of the Tubo Kingdom, for his marriage to Princess Bhrikuti Devi (from Nepal) and Princess Wencheng (of the Tang Empire).

Next, visit the most revered religious structure in Tibet- Jokhang Temple which was built in 647 A.D. during the Tang Dynasty by the king of Tibet to commemorate his queen. It features the perfect combination of the architecture styles of Tibet, Tang Dynasty, Nepal and India. With a history of 1300-yrs-old, the temple is extremely important in Tibetan Buddhism. It’s the most splendid and best preserved architectural example of ancient Tubo Kingdom in Tibet.

Then, visit the bustling Barkhor Street. Enjoy a leisurely stroll on this wonderful street, which features many traditional Tibetan handicrafts.
