Upon arrival at the Lhasa airport, you will be greeted by one of our English-speaking guides. From here, you will be driven straight to the hotel in Lhasa. Once you have checked-in, you can enjoy free-time on your own to relax. We request that on this Tibet tour you refrain from drinking alcohol or smoking. Walk slowly and drink lots of water. Also, for your first day in Lhasa, please do not take a bath, as this will assist your body in adapting to the high altitude.

After breakfast, you will start your adventure in Lhasa with its famous landmark, the Potala Palace. This impressive UNESCO World Heritage Site was once the be the winter residence for Dalai Lamas. Both historic and magnificent, it is an iconic landmark in Tibet. Dating to the 7th-century AD, the palace is one of the most important cultural relics in the region.
Next on the tour, will be the most revered religious structure in Tibet-the Jokhang Temple. It is considered the most sacred temple in the entire country. In the Tibetan language, the name means “Buddha’s House”, because the main statue enshrined inside is said to have been made by Buddha Sakyamuni himself during his lifetime. Visitors will meet many different tribes who live on the Tibetan plateau. The surrounding market is called Barkhor, one of the most important stops the during pilgrimages.

After enjoying breakfast, the tour continues with visits to two more important monasteries in Lhasa: the Drepung Monastery and the Sera Monastery. The Sera Monastery was founded in 1419 by Sakya Yeshe, a disciple of Tsongkhapa. The Buddhism scripture-debating amongst monks in Sera is very famous.
