Day 1 Lhasa-Arrival

“Zha Xi De Le!” Welcome to the mysterious and beautiful Tibet. With an average altitude of 4000 m, Tibet is considered the “Roof of the World”. It covers around 1.2 million sq km. It features for the fascinating natural views including the famous Himalaya mountains, lakes, plateau as well as the friendly Tibetan people and its religion. This 7-day tour will take you to explore the most famous sites in Tibet, enjoy the amazing natural scenery of lakes, spectacular ancient structures, famous monasteries, and meet the incredible Tibetan people.

Our local guide will greet you at Lhasa airport, and send you to the hotel. The remainder of the day, you are free to do as you please and have a good rest to acclimatize to the high-altitude in Lhasa.

Day 2 Lhasa

Today, start your full-day tour in the capital city Lhasa. First, stop at Lhasa's world-renowned landmark - Potala Palace. It was designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1994. The complex consists of the palace, temples, and gardens. The splendor of the Potala Palace is an excellent achievement of the Tibetan architectural style, which combined the skills of artisans of Han, Mongolian and Man nationalities.  

The main structures are divided into 2 sections, The White Palace and Red Palace. The palace is 13-storeys. It was originally built by Sontzen Gampo, the king of the Tubo Kingdom, who was to marry Princess Bhrikuti Devi (of Nepal) and Princess Wencheng (of the Tang dynasty).

Next, visit the most revered religious structure in Tibet - Jokhang Temple. It was built in 647 A.D. during the Tang Dynasty, by the king of Tibet to commemorate his queen. It features the exceptional combination of architectural styles from Tibet, Tang Dynasty, Nepal, and India. With a history spanning 1300 yrs, the temple extremely important to Tibetan Buddhists. It’s the most splendid and best-preserved example of ancient architecture from the Tubo Kingdom in Tibet.

Then visit the bustling Barkhor Street. Enjoy a leisurely stroll on the street, and see firsthand genuine Tibetan customs and handicrafts.

Day 3 Lhasa

This morning after breakfast, visit two important monasteries in Lhasa, the Drepung Monastery and the Sera Monastery. Drepung monastery is situated at the foothill of a mountain and was founded by Jamyang Choeje in 1416. It was once home of 10,000 monks.

In the afternoon you will explore Sera Monastery which was founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa disciple, Jamchen Choeje. The monastery is famous for the sutra debating among the lamas, held in the courtyard each afternoon. 

Afterward, is the fascinating Norbulingka, the largest garden in Lhasa, first built in 1755. The complex contains a spectacular Tibetan-style garden and was the summer residence for successive Dali Lamas. Then, drive back to the hotel.
Sera Monastery

Day 4 Lhasa-Yamdrok Lake-Shigatse.

Activity: Walking along Yamdruktso Lake (around 1-2 hours)

Today, you will drive out of Lhasa, to visit the world-famous Yamdrok Lake, which means "coral lake on earth” in Tibetan. It is considered one of the holiest lakes in Tibet. Located in Langkazi County, it is around 70 km southwest of Lhasa. With an area of 675 sq km, Yamdrok is the largest inland lake in the northern Himalayas. You will take a walking tour along the holy lake for 1-2 hours. Afterward, visit the spectacular Karola Glacier which is the one of the biggest continental glaciers in Tibet. You will arrive at Shigatse in the evening.

Day 5 Shigatse-Lhasa

After breakfast, visit the well-known Tashilhunpo Monastery in Shigatse. Constructed in 1447 during the Ming Dynasty, it is one of the most important monasteries for Gelug sect (Yellow Hat), and the largest monastery in Shigatse. The most attractions at the monastery complex are the Smiling Buddha and Stupa Hall. Lunch will be served during the tour.

On the way back to Lhasa, you will visit the home of a local Tibetan family. With our guide’s help, you can even chat with local Tibetan people. Afterward, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Lhasa.Tashihunpo Monastery

Day 6 Lhasa-Namtso Lake-Lhasa

Meals:Buffet breakfast, Chinese Lunch

Today, you will drive northwards to explore another famous holy lake in Tibet, Namtso. Located in central Tibet, it is the second largest lake in the country and the third largest salt lake in China. Covering an area of 1,920 sq km, it is around 70 km and 30 km wide. Namtso is considered to be the first holy lake of the ancient Shang Shung kingdom, and the cradle of the Shang Shung culture. Afterward, drive back to Lhasa.

Day 7, Lhasa-Departure

Meals: Buffet breakfast

Today, you are free until being transferred to the airport for your departing flight. Thus, ending your fantastic exploration tour of Tibet.
