New Territories is one of the three main districts in Hong Kong. It covers the largest area in Hong Kong. With a population of 3.34 million, it takes up to 49.8% of the whole population of Hong Kong. It was referred to as “New Territories” in 1898 after the British Government signed the treaty with the Qing Government.
Today, you will be picked up at your hotel lobby (Hong Kong Island or Kowloon). Then drive to the New Territories district and spend a half-day exploring the highlights. Kam Tin Walled Village was originally built in the Ming Dynasty and has a 500-year history. With the fertile fields and abundant water, there are quite a lot of villages scattered in Kam Tin. The Deng Family, one of the oldest families in Kam Tin. The most attractive in Kam Tin Walled Village is the thick wall. The wall was built in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty to protect the villages from the harassment of theft and robber. You can still see the well-preserved towers and deep moat there. Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree, located in Dapu Lam Tsuen village in the New Territories district, which is the famous spot for making a wish in Hong Kong. There are two wishing trees in the village. The one in front of the village is quite massive and is around 300 years old. Another wishing tree lies inside the village. Man Mo Temple was originally built in the late Qing Dynasty, in 1891 A.D. It is located at the center of Taihe Market in Dapu. After the temple was established, the Dapu Market was also opened. The temple was the administrative center of Taihe Market in the beginning.
