The dumpling is a traditional Chinese snack with a history of more than 1,800 years. It was invented by Zhang Zhongjing, known as one of the finest physicians in Chines history. He believed it would be an excellent treatment for winter colds. People found it so delicious, that it later became very popular throughout China. Because dumplings resemble human ears, people in the north of China believe eating dumplings on Winter Solstice will keep their ears safe.
