In the south of the Yangtze River Delta, there are dozens of well-preserved ancient water towns which are the stunning pearls scattered in the rich land in Eastern China. Most of the water towns still possess the features of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
This morning, you will be picked up at your hotel in Shanghai and transferred (around 2 hours) to the famous ancient water town, Nanxun. Located at the board of Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces, the water town covers an area of 2.18 sq.km with the preserved area of 168 hectares. It was the famous silk town in the South of Yangtze River Delta in the Ming and Qing dynasties. The ancient town features the exquisitely designed private garden, well-preserved high quality former residences of local celebrities, intersecting waterways, and old stone bridges. The most famous attractions in the town include the private garden - Xiao Lian Villa, Jia Ye Hall Library, the former residence of Zhang Shi Min, Hundred Rooms Tower, the former residence of Zhang Jin Jiang, Wenyuan Garden, Ji Li Hu Silk Exhibition Hall, and Guanghui Taoist Palace. You will also take a leisurely rowboat to explore the beauty of the water town. You will spend around 3 hours in the town and visit the highlights there. After the tour, transfer back to your hotel in Shanghai and end the wonderful day.
