Located in western Hubei province of China, Yichang has a population of 4-million people. The city has become a more popular destination, what for its location 30 kilometers downstream from the famous Three Gorges Dam. Yichang is also a prominent start and ending point for the Three Gorges River Cruise journey. This beautiful city has much to offer, including numerous historical sites, abundant water resources, parks, and scenic preserves. Known "Yiling" in ancient times, Yichang is a must-see destination and worth a visit.
Upon arrival in Yichang pier after taking the Yangtze cruise, you will meet your local English-speaking guide, who will drive you on the tour of beautiful Yichang. The tour includes Three Visitors Cave and Park (Sanyou Cave), Chinese Sturgeon Museum, and Yichang Museum.
First on the itinerary, is a visit to breathtaking Three Visitors Cave and Park, referred to in ancient times as “the fairyland”. Located in Xiling Mountain, the cave got its name after three most famous Chinese poets visited the region during the Tang Dynasty - Bai Juyi, Bai Xingjian, and Yuan Zhen.
You will then be driven to a local restaurant to enjoy a delicious Chinese lunch. Lunch will last between 40 and 50 minutes.
In the afternoon, you will be driven to the fascinating Chinese Sturgeon Museum. The museum exhibits a vast array of fossils, many which are more than 140-million-years old. The museum was built in 1993 by the Chinese Sturgeon Research Institute, in an attempt to preserve the Chinese sturgeon. This interesting exhibition is considered a must-see attraction when visiting the region, and definitely worth the time.
Next stop on the tour, you will be driven to the incredible Yichang Museum. The three main exhibitions halls of the museum display 617 artifacts and relics, 230 photos and drawings, and over 100 pieces of text. Yichang Museum offers a wide range of displays, with something compelling for everyone. (Note: No photography is permitted in the Relics section.)
After the tour, you will be driven to Yichang Sanxia Airport to catch your departing flight.
