As the capital of Liaoning Province, Shenyang is the famous central city in Northeastern China and the geographical center of Northeastern Asia. With a history over 2,000 years, Shenyang is inscribed as a national historical and cultural city. It is also considered to be the cradle of the Qing Empire, as it served as the capital during the early period of the Qing Dynasty and played a significant role in the history of the dynasty.
In the morning, our local guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel in Shenyang. Then start your full day tour to explore the glorious and legendary city. The Imperial Palace of Shenyang is one of the best-preserved palace complexes in China. It was the palace of the late Jin Dynasty (the early period of the Qing Dynasty) before they moved to Beijing. The palace is not only famous for its exquisite ancient buildings, but also the precious artifacts of the Ming and Qing dynasties. You will have the chance to see the precious relics in the exhibition rooms inside. The entire palace consists of three sections: the East Section, Middle Section, and West Section. The middle section is the highlight of the palace. It’s the site you must not miss in Shenyang. Next, visit the famous Marshal Zhang’s Mansion Museum. It is the largest and best-preserved former residence in Northeast China. It’s based on the mansion of Marshal Zhang, covering a total area of 53,000 sq.m. The museum is renowned for the historic structures and connected courtyards featuring the courtyard dwellings of palace style, the eaves and ridges, the carved beams and painted rafters, the Big Grey Building, the Frontier Bank, the office building, the magnificent red mansion clusters in the western courtyard, the Small grey Building of Chinese and Western architectural style and the former residence of Zhao Yidi, which constitute a spectacular and unique landscape within the complex. The 9.18 Historical Museum is a good place to learn the history of the events of September 18, 1931. The Japanese army attacked the Chinese army and occupied Shenyang on the second day. It was built to commemorate the Chinese people who died during the in the invasion.
Zhaoling Mausoleum of the Qing Dynasty is final stop today. It is the mausoleum of the second emperor of the Qing Dynasty and his queen. It was the largest and most spectacular mausoleum among all those from the Qing Dynasty located in Northeastern China. The tall trees and majestic imperial architecture are all features of the mausoleum. Lunch will be a delicious local Chinese meal.
