Welcome to day 1 of your best of Shanghai tour. It starts after breakfast, Sublime China will make arrangements to pick you up from your hotel.
You will be greeted by one of our English-speaking tour guides, who will then drive you to the Bund.
Feel free to ask your tour guide questions along the way.
The Bund literally translates as "Outer Beach" and it is known for being a famous waterfront with 52 various buildings consisting of Gothic and Romanesque architectural styles.
When locals refer The Bund, it typically means the area with the most impressive view of the Pudong District guideline. It's a great place to take a date, the buildings are akin to crystal castles, the backdrops alone make it a must-visit destination while in Shanghai.
Opposite The Bund is the Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower, here's where your best of Shanghai tour guide will escort you and take you inside for an historic exploration.
The TV Tower itself stands at 468 m (1,535 feet) high. Interestingly enough, it was the tallest standing structure in China between 1994 to 2007, later surpassed by the Shanghai World Financial Centre.
From here, we visit the Old City, also known as the cradle of Shanghai. This was the former political, economic and cultural centre of Shanghai in the ancient times -- a special reminder of how far the city has come.
The Old City is filled with narrow alley ways, filled with shops selling jewelry and and antiques. If the mood strikes, you can grab a serving of savoury dumplings, traditional treats or other delicious mouth-watering delights along its classic roads and arched bridges.
Nearby is the Yuyuan Garden, its translated meaning is the Garden of Happiness, one of the most famous attractions of old city.
It's often regarded as the "crown jewel" of the metropolis. It was originally built in 1559 A.D. in Ming Dynasty.
Inside Yuyuan Garden, we'll uncover the city pearl known as the Currow, an ancient stone, a porous 3.3-m, 5-ton boulder.
Legend has it that the Currow was intended for the imperial palace in Beijing but was salvaged after the boat sank off Shanghai -- such a beauty, take a photo or two. After the morning tour we stop to have lunch.
In the afternoon, your best of Shanghai tour starts with a visit the ever-so-famous Shanghai Museum, one of the top 3 museums in China.
Nestled in the centre of Shanghai in People's Square, Shanghai Museum feature a wide range of precious ancient ceramics, bronze, paintings, calligraphy, sculptures, jade, coins, Ming and Qing furniture, seals, and minority nationalities.
After we tour Shanghai Museum, we drive to Jade Buddha Temple. It takes inspiration from the Pure Land and Chan traditions of Mahayana Buddhism.
Built in 1882 with two jade Buddha statues imported to Shanghai from Burma by boat: The sitting Buddha measures at 1.95 meters tall and weighs about 3 tonnes; and a smaller reclining Buddha, which represents the Buddha's death.
In modern day, the Jade Buddha Template has a bigger reclining Buddha, built from marble and donated from Singapore.
A lot of tourists mistake this larger sculpture for the original, smaller pieces.
After we tour Jade Buddha Template we drift over to Xintiandi, an affluent car-free area featuring entertainment, restaurants, and shopping, topping off your best of Shanghai tour off with dinner. After dinner, our Sublime China tour guide will escort you back to the hotel, ending your unforgettable best of Shanghai tour.
