Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Xi’an, once known as Chang'an (Eternal Peace) is the oldest city from the Four Great Ancient capitals. It had served as the capital city of six dynasties in the history of China. You'll find countless cultural relics and historical landmarks -- stunning exemplars of ancient Asian architecture. Xi'an is also famous for being the starting point of Silk Road and the home of the Terracotta Army.
After breakfast, Sublime China will drive you to the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor to see the Terracotta Warriors and Horses. The Terracotta Army was created to guard the first Emperor of China and to protect him in the afterlife -- a legendary form of funerary art dedicated to Qin Shi Huang. Thousands of clay warriors and horses were buried in the tomb in various shapes. We then gather our bearings after the tour and head out for lunch.
After lunch, we visit the Ancient City Walls, the largest and best preserved in China. It's 13.7km long, 12 to 14 meters wide across the top, 15 to 18 meters thick at the bottom and visually glorious. The foundations of the walls were built by earth, quick lime and glutinous rice extract, later enclosed with bricks. After our peruse, we explore the Bell and Drum Tower, which is a symbolic architecture of Xi’an. The Bell Tower was built in 1384 and the Drum Tower in 1380.
We take a short walk to Muslim Street, which is the biggest Muslim quarter in the city. It is also a famous food street where you can try all kinds of local snacks.
Thereafter we drift over to the Former Residence of the Gao Family, a well-preserved typical residence of the Han Nationality built in the Ming Dynasty. We'll stop and appreciate our local environment and watch an interesting traditional and whimsical shadow puppet show.
Afterward, dinner is served. At night, we've planned for the Tang Dynasty Show, which consists of traditional singing and dancing.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
After breakfast, we continue our Xi'an tour and explore more of the city. First, we'll visit the well-known Shaanxi History Museum, the first modern museum in China. We'll take you to see the precious bronze artifacts of Shang and Zhou Dynasty, the Terracotta Warriors and the exquisitely designed gold and silver ornaments. Next on the list head over to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a famous landmark of Xi'an, which was built in 652 A.D. in the Tang Dynasty, built to restore the Buddhist scriptures brought by the famous Monk Xuanzang.
We take time to rest and serve lunch. Moving forward, we continue on to visit Hanyangling Museum. Hanyangling is where you'll find royal tombs of emperors and queens during the Han Dynasty.
After spending time with emperors and queens long gone, we soak in a few moments before we head over to the airport or train station for your departure.
